About the Event

Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR) was started in 1999 by transgender advocate Gwendolyn Ann Smith as a vigil to honour the memory of Rita Hester, a transgender woman who was killed in 1998. The vigil commemorates all transgender people lost to violence.

We will be meeting at the rainbow crosswalk in Nose Creek Park at 6:00pm.

Please note: We will be reading all 334 names of those who lost their life due to transgender violence this year. This event will contain mentions of anti-trans violence and hatred. Please take care of yourself and engage in the way that is best for you.

This event will be in spoken English and is open to all 2SLGBTQIA+ people and allies. Please dress for the weather as this is an outside event.

Accessibility: Location is accessible via a short walk from the Nose Creek Park parking lot, on paved pathways. There are accessible parking…
